Could you elaborate more on #1? I've never really thought about it before, but I'm curious why you are against anonymous donors. Without considering it in depth, I don't really see a problem with it.

Yeah "solid" as in fat enough to float.

If you are having that much trouble, sometimes the best way to do it (especially with young kids) is to just say, "Okay, we're going underwater now," and just dunk their head and go down with them.

Before you try that, I would suggest blowing bubbles, reaching for diving rings, dumping buckets of water on their head, etc.
