I think the crime of opportunity is a good point. I don't think it helps that most wal-marts disguise their LP guys and seem to put effort into making the shoplifters think they can get away with it. From my point of view (I worked at a McDs in walmart for a few years) it is almost like they invite the shoplifters so they can catch them, rather than attempt to deter it.

So how often is someone investigated and it turns out they have a higher death rate for unintended reasons? Incompetence or awful luck? I imagine if every dr was absolutely morally perfect you would still have some who are outliers with higher death rates.

I used to have a collection of (used to be white) T-shirts that were GWAR'd. You don't wash those!!! It's like heresy or something. I don't care how bad they smell it's my heritage. I lost them when I moved and haven't seen them enough to recreate that again. I also have only seen them once since Dave passed. (Still fun, but just not the same)

Any major surgery like this is likely going to fall under the hospitalization part of the plan where you pay 20% that’s still like 40k plus your deductible. It’s not as simple as having insurance and paying your deductible covers everything. Most of us aren’t offered (or can’t afford) that level of insurance plan from our employers.
