Our company lost a Marine during training just weeks before we left for Iraq. He died of heat stroke during one of our regular 5-10 mile hikes. It's a hard pill to swallow knowing his parents were told he died under those circumstances, instead of defending his country in combat.

You've mentioned gloves in a few of your answers, and in my many years cooking in restaurants I've rarely if ever seen anyone wearing gloves. There's a lot of food handling and preparation that is nearly impossible to do with gloves on. Asking a cook to wear gloves is like asking a guitar player to wear gloves.

My question is this: Are there any food safety rules you personally feel are unnecessary, or maybe a little over the top?

It's possible to read her answers on having a baby and think she's the first person ever to have one.

I've never met a mother after having her first baby that didn't act that way. I probably would too if another human being just popped out of my body.

Do you have any interesting "on the road" stories?

Never mind. Had I known you were 12 I wouldn't have asked about your illiteracy.
