I'm not OP, but some folks find that "just american" makes them "standard," and equates "standard" with "white." So you get a double-whammy - first, that someone discussing you might ignore the heritage that's important to you, and second, continuing a line of thought that White is "regular, plain, normal, standard" and non-white is "abnormal, special-case, lesser," especially given the history of racism in the US.

hold up: is the accepted thing here for me, as a walker, to treat the handicap stall like a handicap parking place, i.e. don't ever use it? Or just don't use it when there's a wheelchair around?

I've not been really differentiating - I mean, if someone was in a chair, obviously they get the big stall - but when there's a line and nobody's in a chair...?

Thanks! If the parents don't sign, what happens to the kids?

edit: I'm honestly concerned, but not out to make hay.

How do you get permission to break confidentiality of these kids? Do the custodians sign waivers? Do they know the images will end up on the internet?

not snarking, really asking.

I'm very glad to hear that not-signing doesn't preclude chances at the operation. Thanks!
