Holy hell! I drive a Porsche Boxster S and NEVER tip under a fiver. I bought it used (can't afford new -- I'm just a car enthusiast). That's just so... damn... wrong...

In fact... it's so damn wrong, I give you gold as apology for other Porsche owners giving Porsche owners a bad name.

47 year old IT (systems engineer/developer). Sooooo burned out, my sisters and brothers, soooo burned out. But the money is good and college for my daughter costs big, big bucks...

I could have written your post for you!

I'm finding the same thing to be true. IT is becoming a commodity. The engineering we did is getting replaced by overpriced, underpowered off-the-shelf services that never live up to the sales pitch, but there's a big CYA component that lets managers point blame outside their organization.

I sound like a geezer... :-(

This sounds like me -- but at a different point in life. Mortgage is paid off, cars are paid off, daughter is in college (but the money is in the bank).

I've started a small manufacturing company while keeping my day-job. I'm about 6 months in and moving from setting up shop to FINALLY offering products. It's nights and weekends and sometimes feels like a pit that I just throw all our money into.

That said, the hours FLY by when I'm working on my business... the day job? Not so much. I'm really looking forward to the day I'm not working two jobs again!

Doh! Excellent point... thanks.
