Hello Oliver! I've been following Skateistan's activities since 2010, and I'm so excited to see the growth of the organization into what it is today! My community mounted a big effort to create a free skate park in our hometown and it was such a cool experience!

I've always been interested in volunteering for Skateistan, but I'm embarrassed my skills wouldn't be up to snuff! Are all of your volunteers experienced on the board, or were there some newbies?

It's true that the opening and closing of the al-Aqsa mosque grounds are sometimes politically motivated acts, but the area has recently been a major flashpoint for (often semi-violent) protests and riots. The closures are publicized in Israel as a measure to try to temper the current situation. Additionally, the area, known as the Temple Mount to Israelis, is also holy to Jews. And there is absolutely not a popular movement to destroy the mosques there. Just so everybody knows...
