Hey homefry. I actually just read Subnormality for the first time today, and it reminds me of Pickle by Dylan Horrocks, which I freaking love. Did you ever read any of his stuff?

DIY question! Disclaimer: I am never, ever going to use your service, or the service of anybody like you, because I can't afford your services. You are not losing any potential income by answering these questions:

I would be totally happy recovering SOME of my data off of a hard drive. Drive is clicking, makes quiet 'not locked down disk' sound if you spin in it your hand, shows up in rescuecd but has a Drive I/O failure, and the internet has convinced me that it is dead. DDRescue claims that it may be able to get most of the data back by just skipping over dead sectors. Is there any hope for this route? What's the best tricks an amateur DIY drive recoverer should know?

The possibility of widespread technological unemployment is so present and palpable as to make our economic ventures - for the first time in history - a voluntary measure. Would you welcome or despise publicly owned machines that drastically reduce human effort - if they also provided for decreased emissions, decreased resource use, endlessly cycled materials, etc?

Do you have any thoughts on what Canada might look like in a world with much less work in it?
