It’s called a comparison. The deaths of people due to Covid where high populations live in small spaces has everything to do with other countries. There was a huge backlash against masks in the US because it’s seen as a loss of face, whereas here wearing masks is as perennial as washing your hands.

You can’t equate Japanese people’s dislike of wanting the Olympics with Covid per se. Coverage of Covid has actually been terrible here. Seriously, people in my town are protesting against it because they are already struggling to support themselves in their jobs. You’re talking to me as if I’m a Covid denier (which Reddit is wont to do since everyone apparently has to exist in for-or-against tribalism), but I’m not at all. I’m completely aware of what’s going on here.

Yes, I know how sharky this thread is ‘cos Reddit, but please talk to some Japanese people or read forums (Japanese news media is full of propaganda).

I never once said that I’m the only one entitled to the correct experience or opinion, but media is spinning this as “Japanese people are against the Olympics because of Covid” and everyone here is biting, when it’s far more complex than that.

You can use the ‘not the only person in Japan’ against me, but I can easily say you’re not the only person who is repeating the same fallacies and lack of insight in a thread that has become such a huge circle jerk. Let’s listen to different people ffs.
