What is the best way to avoid sediment in home brews? My dad and I have made a few different batches and have a hard time transfering just the liquid from the carboy. Thanks!

We started to cold crash, which definitely helps. However, we usually start with the syphon just above the trub (2-3 inches) and don't move it during the process. Definitely gonna try your method as well as tilting the carboy forward carefully. It just seems difficult to achieve the clarity of beers made by professional breweries. Thanks for the advice.
