Thank you for sharing your experience! Although we have not yet descended to violent clashes along ethnic or culture lines in the US, it feels as though we have reached a point of “high conflict” as described by Amanda Ripley. Polarization of opinion on matters of politics, science, and economics seems to be extreme and intractable. What lessons can Americans learn from other countries that have successfully passed through periods of even more extreme and deadly division?

I keep going back to the recording of Klaus Makela conducting the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra on the Ninth Symphony. He seems to express such affection for the musicians and (at least to my eye) seems to be connecting deeply. Am I over-romanticizing this, or is this anywhere near the experience for an experienced conductor?

The filming of the performance was wonderful as well!

Many thanks to this team for offering this AMA! I'm with OEM in Bellingham, WA and a question we receive often is about tsunami risk that is not associated with the CSZ, e.g., tsunami related to activity on the South Whidbey Island fault, Darrington-Devils Mountain fault zone, and a couple smaller faults in the Blaine-Birch Bay area. Is there any reasonable expectation for tsunami relating to these hazards based on current knowledge? Thank you!
