Holy Shit I'm in Washington on vacation and I see you right now!

This is a serious question: Why care about the living conditions, animal welfare, etc. when the whole purpose of keeping them there is to eventually slaughter them to be eaten? I mean, why does Animal rights, on farms, matter at all?
