How do you feel about "mis-gendering", particularly by complete strangers (e.g. the checkout clerk at the local food-stuff place)? In a researched piece of journalism, close family/friends, etc it's important. As a trans woman myself I feel that many of my fellow trans people get way too hung up on what pronoun is or isn't used. Any thoughts on this?

I have been finding that confidence is key. If you act like you belong, people tend to follow along more easily. That said, I've made some interesting observations about how people seem to look at me and treat me in public under different conditions. For example, when I have my 2 year old with me, people seem to be more open and warm. There's also a big difference when I wear a padded bra versus a flat bra. All you can do is be yourself and be the best you can be.
