A female friend (5'3", 45kg) of mine (6', 65kg) lifted me off the floor when drunk. Only about 2 inches, but she didn't let go as she tumbled backwards, meaning I basically free-dropped onto my knee.
It hurt like hell, and when the bruising disappeared, due to some slight deformity in my knee (which I'd not know about before this incident) it continued to hurt. I'd describe it as a mild irritation when bending under strain. However, after any distance, it would turn into a throbbing. It meant that I couldn't do any sport at all for 3 years. It woke me up every night for about a year and a half as it would ache if slightly bent, and it is impossible to sleep with straight legs.
Eventually I got knee surgery which improved it slightly, but 6 years later I still can't run for more than 15 minutes. Riding my bike hurts intermittently and I can only snowboard for a few days at a time - I can't do the full week anymore. Oh, and I can't kneel down... ever.
Anyway, my point is that although it doesn't look bad, the scars have faded away and I don’t limp, I have a life-changing injury that has made me a far less active person and will likely cause me problems in later life as a result. I don’t blame her at all. I don’t even think of it when I see her unless someone brings it up. We were drunk and nobody meant to harm anybody. It’s just one of those things.
