Hello Gabriel, I want to start by saying thank you for being so great to your fans. I have seen you here in El Paso every single time you have come but one time stands out. When you had a signing in Best Buy and from 10-3. I showed up when the store opened and was 5th in line with my brother and pregnant wife. We were 8th in line and got tickets to your secret benefit show. You were late to that show that afternoon because you had actually stayed at the signing until the very last person which was until 6:30. I thought it was amazing that you did that and it meant a lot to the fans.

My questions:

  1. I remember seeing you in Last Comic standing and rooting for you. If you had not gotten kicked out, do you think you would have won? During your secret show you had drinks at the hotel bar with fans but I was not able to get to you and ask you this question. I did ask Martin because I was waiting at your bus and he said he believes you would have won.

  2. What is the best way to get to meet you at a show?

  3. Any plans to return and film in El Paso again?

  4. What healthy snacks can we take instead of cake to your shows? You said at a show once that to bring transformers for your son instead of cake, what things is he into now or is it still transformers?

  5. Are you still doing DDP and what started your healthy journey?

  6. What has been the hardest and most rewarding part of losing weight? If you are able to answer just one question, I would be eternally grateful

Thank for doing this IAMA

Thank you very much for answering this. I immediately called my wife and brother to tell them you had responded. My brother wanted to know what is your favorite tv show? What do you like on your chipotle chicken burrito bowl besides no rice. I may take you one when you come.

Hello Mr. Del Toro, I remember seeing Cronos and El Espinazo del Diablo when I was younger and loving them. I continued to be a fan of your films not knowing they were all your films. I now love films and hold you in extremely high regard. You are part of the reasons I call myself a cinephile. Thank you for all your creations, and the time and love you put into your craft. Your work is inspirational to other young Latino kids like myself. Your separate home that houses your art and library has also been an inspiration me to do something similar. I plan on having a small theater in my home with movie memorabilia and signed autographs of my cinematic heroes. I hope that your signature will one day be there, but being from El Paso, TX will be a challenge. Thank you for taking time to do this IAMA and answering our questions. If you even answer one question, it will be an honor.

My questions:

  1. Do you feel that a PG-13 version of H.P Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness’ will hinder your ideal vision on what you have said is your dream project?

  2. How has your relationship with Ron Pearlman evolved since Cronos?

  3. Now that you are an Oscar nominated, BAFTA winning director, is it easier to get a movie made than when you started?

  4. Is it easier or harder to make an original story with monster from your imagination than an established monsters like Hellboy or Blade?

  5. Can you think of any scene in a movie which looking back on now you would change? On the other hand, favorite scene you have shot?

  6. Digital filming or photochemical filming, what do you prefer?

  7. Any plans to visit El Paso, TX ever?

Thank again for doing this IAMA and your Simpsons introduction is my favorite.
