In America, the right is actively sabotaging our public education systems. They know education is key and they are working to dismantle it as much as possible and have been for years. Relying on school education in America is a losing bet.

Public schools are being defunded and the cost of higher education is skyrocketing. We're probably about 20 years out, if not less, from being a totalitarian state because the general population is dumb and easily manipulated.

but the usage of those funds is no longer equivalent. By splitting the funding between charter schools and public schools, they're taking funding away from schools that service lower income neighborhoods in general.

in Michigan, in particular, where Betsy DeVos trialed a lot of her charter school plans it led to the shuttering of many, many public schools, funneling students into higher priced charter schools putting undue burden on working parents and becoming an utter payday for banks and hedge funds who make bank on investments in "renewal" properties that are tax advantaged.
