A more interesting question is why they dropped the ball so badly regarding lie detectors and how they actually don't work at all.

If you're throwing the ball straight down the lane, then the oil doesn't really help or hurt you. But you can't guarantee a strike with a straight ball (0 degree entry angle), which is why non-casual bowlers throw their ball with a hook. A 6 degree Angle of Entry is optimal. http://xp9.com/lane.html

On a house oil pattern, the outsides of the lanes have less oil than the center. There is a 10 to 1 ratio of oil, laid in a gradient. If you miss right, your ball will react earlier and come back to the pocket. If you miss left, the ball will hold longer and hit the pocket. It is substantially easier to hit the pocket because you get free hook and free hold. Even on a mediocre delivery, you can hit the pocket.

On a medium-difficulty sport pattern, the pattern oil ratio is typically 2.5 to 1. The gradient is also smaller. If you miss right, the ball doesn't recover. If you miss left, you really miss left.

On a super-difficult sport pattern, there is no oil ratio. The pattern is completely flat. The same amount of oil is laid from board 1 to 39. There is no free hook, and there is no free hold. Miss the shot by a board, and you might end up with a split or a washout.

I go tell someone if the curtains are even a little wrong and the edges of the film are playing on them. I am not there to pay $40 (with concessions) to have a subpar projection.

Have you ever been treated coldly or negatively by the person you were doubling for?

To clarify my question, a couple years back I was working as a PA on a pretty big movie. The film had four "name" actors (2 men, 2 women). The main actor and actress were REALLY big movie stars at the time. To put this bluntly, the stand-ins for all four of them were younger and more attractive.

The two stars acted in a very cold and passive-aggressive manner towards their stand-ins. For the actress, I chalked this up to jealousy over the stand-in's youth and beauty. She looked like the star's twin sister, but 10 years younger. The actor's "twin" was better built. He had more muscle, was younger, and was probably stronger. Given the relationships on set, it really seemed like these two movie stars perceived these stand-ins as a threat. Like someone that could replace them.

In my view, this thinking was illogical of course. The movie stars had a talent that neither of the stand-ins possessed, and that's why they swapped places when the cameras started rolling. But I find it interesting that these movie stars were (apparently) that insecure about these superficial traits. The other two name-actors (cast as the less-attractive best friends) laughed and chatted with their stand-ins.

The police don't interrogate everyone in the same way. Intimidation works for some, flattery works for others. When I was applying for a job with the government, the detective who tried to intimidate me only managed to make me more guarded. The guy who was my friend got EVERYTHING. I didn't even realize what happened until the next day. He was that good. "Oh yah, that shouldn't be a problem. Yah, everyone's done that, we all do stupid things when we're younger.... now how old were you when you did this? Hehehe. And how often? Man, that's hilarious."

If, during an open investigation, you were told you were intelligent and interest was expressed about giving you a job, it was done with the sole purpose of getting you to open up and make an admission of guilt.

It doesn't matter if you think you're one of the good guys. It doesn't matter if the detective/agent/police think you're one of the good guys. All that matters is whether or not you broke the law as written and if they can prove it. If they can prove it, you're going to trial. Only then might it actually matter whether or not you are one of the good guys but jury nullification is hard to pull off.

Given that your father is a lawyer I'm surprised that the first words out of your mouth to the police weren't "I am not going to answer any questions. I want a lawyer." That CANNOT be used against you. The police will do everything they can to make you believe that not talking to them will hurt you, but it won't. Everything you said to the police will either 1) not be used or 2) be used against you. It was a mistake to talk to them for 3.5 hours.

Given that this thread even exists during an ongoing investigation exposes your fatal flaw. It's your ego. You got caught because you bragged. You spoke with the police because they flattered you. They allowed you to inflate your ego by giving them information. For your own sake, you need to stop trying to convince yourself and others of how smart you are. You're a genius, accept it, and stop trying to convince others (like reddit) when your freedom is at stake.

All that being said, I hope this is all behind you. I hope that you didn't break the law as written. And I hope that they can't prove you broke the law. I wish you all the best.

Oh, and... Hello FBI, welcome to this thread.
