I am a developer and I can give you some humble advice:

  • C++ is a great language, but there a lot of nuances and uses of the language that are really going to confuse you. I don't recommend starting with this language.

  • You need a language that is popular (so is easier to find tutorials), with great tools to debug (so you can learn faster from your mistakes) and that don't require you to have advanced coding knowledge right on the start.

  • My recommendation for you is to learn C# and Unity engine. Both are available for free and you can start right now.

  • More important than which language, is how much code you write. I do recommend you to write TONS OF CODE!!! Practice makes perfection!!! If you choose any other language is ok, what is really important is practice!

  • If you decide to go with the developer carrier, you will learn that the difference between a good and great developer, is that one knows how to use a language and the other knows to code! But don't worry about this for now

Why your friend didn't receive the same punishment? What you did that he didn't (or the inverse) ?

The vulnerability you found would require an authenticated user to exploit it, or it could be exploited by an anonymous user?
