I could have been that pink-haired little girl -- I took the Last Unicorn film out of the library again and again when I was small, and then I grew up, and I grew cynical, and I forgot a lot about it.

Until my husband gave it to me one Valentine's Day, and I watched it again, and I hit the part where Molly says to the unicorn "where were you when I was new? how dare you come to me when I am this?" and I went zero to full-on sobbing. To this day I've never seen anything capture so well that dread of growing old and useless and leaving everything bright and magical behind.

Thank you for doing this AMA. It's been fascinating to hear not only about your experience as an intersex person, but also about what your life is like in Oman; it's so very different from mine in America.
