What, in your opinion, are the most interesting hypothesis for the anomalies in the CMB data as observed by the WMAP?

NASA's proposal to move an asteroid into Earth orbit got me wondering whether NASA could use that as a proof of concept to get into the asteroid mining business, which could open the path for NASA to largely self-fund itself, in a similar way the US Postal Service does.

Of course, I'd hope the brain trust at NASA would be able to take lessons from the financial morass of the USPS, but the general idea of moving to lessen dependence on a political establishment that has largely stopped caring about the long-term, as a response to the 24/7 news cycle and always-on campaigning for the next election seems like something NASA should seriously consider pursuing.
