You'll probably need to lie about the reason for the gap. Caring for an ill relative who passed away is impossible to disprove. Go back to school, starting now. Couldn't hurt.

Thanks for the tips!! I'll be sharing this comment with my cousin. He talks about getting harassed when he parks in handicap spaces, because he's in his 20s and "doesn't look disabled." Even on bad days where he needs his arm braces. I've learned a lot about invisible illnesses from him.

Is it possible to cycle oneself through the use of alcohol? Obviously it's not advisable. Just wondering because I'm an alcoholic and I'm pretty sure I use alcohol to cycle myself. Thanks!

What other drugs have you tried? I have a cousin with EDS, I'm not really sure how severe. He copes as best he can with medical marijuana and CBD concentrates, can't get a doctor to prescribe opioids though he would really like them.
Corollary: how do you get a doctor to take you seriously and prescribe opioids for a condition that truly calls for them? My mom's dr took away her opioid script several years ago (chronic pain, fibromyalgia among other conditions) and accused her of malingering. She's since passed away, but was never able to find a dr who took her seriously.

Not OP or a professional, but I have ADHD and I have found guided meditation to be extremely helpful - "progressive muscle relaxation" is a great search term. I can't just sit there and do nothing and think about the universe and be all zen and shit. What I can do, and greatly enjoy, is laying in bed at the end of a tough day and letting someone with a soothing voice talk me through releasing tension in various muscle groups one by one. Or, talking me through a "scene" where I walk through a beautiful grassy meadow and run into a random bed and watch clouds in the shapes of numbers cross the sky. I've found them relaxing and a very good sleep aid.
Kiwiwhispers has some really good videos :) It's aimed at the ASMR crowd, but I count it as guided meditation.
