it's less that and more that they think that africans are "dirty" and "primitive." you'll definitely have to deal with racism, but i wouldn't be surprised if you also get called "obama" or things like that. in my experience with white russians and russians/ex-soviets of other ethnicities is that white russians hold general racist views of different groups but will make exceptions for specific people they know. so you might hear someone say like "oh, tajiks, you just can't trust tajiks." and you might ask, "but what about so-and-so; he's tajik?" "oh he's different, he's a nice boy."

except in the US, people cloak their biases in PC. There, the possible existence or conceptualized idea of political correctness doesn't even register!
