I'm working my way through the michelin list in Chicago - I haven't been to Alinea yet, but I've been to many of the one-star restaurants and spent what you might consider to be exorbitant amounts of money on these restaurants. I'm not a rich person - I don't own real expensive clothes, I don't spend money going out to bars, I cook most of my meals at home, a lot of my furniture is from Walmart. My boyfriend and I save up to go to these restaurants, because those are experiences we like to share together. It's high on our list of priorities, so we save the money to be able to do it once or twice a year. Some people save up money to travel and get those experiences. We save up to have these experiences in our own city.
