Exactly true. So clear especially once you read accounts of how Japanese viewed the Chinese they raped, tortured, and murdered in WWII. I read so many accounts "We treated it like killing pigs" etc. (But who even treats animals that way, right?)

Good point.

I know forced marriage (and FGM) commonly happens among non-Muslim tribes in Kenya at least, and has seemingly been their practice since well before Mohammad's birth. My best friend is Samburu and described this, and here's a heartwrenching article on the Pokot. Sold off for livestock. This is also part of how the Maasai spread their territory so far historically, trading their daughters.

I've heard similar stories out of Cambodia, which is also a non-Muslim nation. :( :( :( It really seems "the way" things have been pretty much worldover regardless of religion, until it gets civilized out.

In these horrible cases, which I think are very widespread globally, how do you think the men (and women) who perpetrate these crimes became so evil/psychologically ill as to so-compulsively treat others this way? What have you seen lying behind these stories at their root, and what ways forward do you see? And especially, have you seen people emerging from this pattern of violence (especially interested in men and boys) who have stood up to make a change?

I was wondering as well. So, if you go to the article, yes it is freaking FGM a third time. Incredible.

Very good article and video!

That's the thing. These are often the only employers there: or at least they do employ. If they leave, it's often even worse for the people.

There must be ways to make them safe, profitable and community-enriching employers. I bet many of them are, actually.
