Aww, poor James Marsters. He was always my favorite.

I'm a bad singer because I'm literally awful at music. I took part in a research study once regarding musical ability (involved tests such as matching genre to short audio clips, noting pitch or tempo changes, and tapping along to a beat).

I scored in the 0th percentile on musical ability. Of the thousands of respondents the study got, I was literally one of the worst.

I watched his 'Best restaurant' UK show a while back, since it was on Netflix, and he wasn't even half the ass he is presented as being in his US shows.

He did still occasionally yell at people, but he was generally more reserved and professional about things.

So that makes me think that he's intentionally exaggerating himself a great deal in order to play to his audience.

I think the funniest part in comparison is when he visited one of the "best Chinese" restaurants, and the head chef there was shouting in Mandarin, and Ramsay had this "God damn, this dude is loud" expression on his face.

Or perhaps he's not exaggerating for the Americans, but consciously restraining himself for the Brits...
