Am Canadian, this is pretty much my experience. Everyone knows someone who waited hours in the ER with a broken arm or some other "minor" injury, or has a family member on a wait list for a scan that isn't life or death (MRIs have a long wait for most people). That being said, my mom went into the ER with stomach pains one night and had life saving surgery 3 hours later. She was put into an induced coma for a week and had at least 3 other surgeries and is now almost 10 years fully recovered. We would have lost our house and my parents would have racked up insane debt without single payer - or worse yet, my mom would have shrugged off her abdominal pain to save the expense of the ER visit, and would have been dead about 5 hours later.

Cool question! Just a tip about your phrasing - no one "transgenders" from one gender to another. People are transgender - and they transition. So a transgender woman would transition from biologically male to biologically female. Hope that helps in the future.

Edit: see the correction below - a MtF transwomen does not change her biology when she transitions, just her gender presentation :)

FYI, a lot of people are upset with the state of the NHS, and blame the current (conservative) government for massive cuts across the board.

What's important on a candidates platform is a subjective choice, although you speak of it like it's objective.

As a woman, reproductive rights are EXTREMELY important to me and would consider it a deal breaker for a representative to suggest that those rights are not worth being addresses.

Likewise, if I had been fighting to acquire the right to marry my partner legally without discrimination, that would also be the most important platform topic for me.

Those may both seem inconsequential to you, because they might not directly affect you. However, don't suggest that the same topics carry equal importance for every person.

Some types of restitution do not have time limits - see the residential schools in Canada. Many elder First Nations people are receiving restitution payments from the government for things that occured decades ago (and rightfully so).
