Out of curiosity, how does he talk to them if he can't move his jaw? Is there some kind of special adaptation, or does he have some different form of the syndrome that doesn't affect the jaw?

deaf people having kids with other deaf people, hoping the child is deaf.

This just made me cry a little. Why would anyone ever wish a disability upon their child? If anything, deaf parents should hope for hearing children who can bridge the gap between spoken English and ASL, and be hearing ambassadors for the deaf community.

They did this even though they knew you were three times over the legal limit? That's somewhat surprising to me. I wouldn't have thought they'd want anything to do with you after that.

Well, all the info I can find about the definition of "disability" includes deafness. So even if they don't see it as a disability, it is one. To be unable to use one of your senses is a disability, period.
