We're talking a very fine line of stay drunk here.

me having drinks with locals, learning the local cuss words = perfect amount of drunk.

me, 4 hours later stumbling through a ghetto in sao paolo yelling slurred portuguenglish = too drunk

I ended up in a house with no electricity (at night) in a room with no furniture, save for smashed up cash registers alll over the floor, smoking hash with some locals... so i guess it was a pretty good amount of drunk afterall.
