While your recommendations are mostly correct, your diagnosis is wrong.

Blepharospasm is a bilateral condition of the orbicularis oculii (and this is not a smooth muscle à la the gut or other involuntary places), although it can onset as a unilateral condition. You have to rule out an irritant or a neurologic cause in those cases (parkinsons, PSP, MS, huntington's, etc).

You're discussing myokemia. And again, your recommendations are correct for the dx of myokemia.

It is not impossible to justify. People keep their glasses on average one to two years. That breaks down financially to being $1.64 per day if you buy a $600 pair of glasses and only keep them for 365 days. If your vision is not worth that to you then I don't necessarily want to help you, to be honest (however if you cannot afford that, that is a completely different story). I cannot even buy a cup of coffee for $1.64 in my town.

The technical term is presbyopia!! And unfortunately my friend, there is nothing you can do to combat it; we've been trying for 200+ years to do so (Ben Franklin's famous glasses he invented were to an attempt to combat presbyopia). You just have to let it wash over you and succumb to it. It hits us all one day or another.

And depending upon how nearsighted you are, taking off your glasses is usually the best thing to do because you have a distance at where your eyes are fine-tuned to see clearly without focusing (assumimg no astigmatism). With multifocals there is a compromise, either your distance is going to give way to your near, or vice versa.

Coming from an optometrist that does not have stereopsis (the ability to see depth) because my two eyes do not work together (so for all intents and purposes you could consider me one eyed), the answer is not really...
