I didn’t go through anything like what you did, but I have been taken in and taken advantage of. Since then I feel like I’m hyper aware of cult-like behavior and tend to shun tribalism of any kind.

Do you think you notice more cult-like behavior than others who haven’t been through an experience like yours?

If you’re comfortable sharing I would love to hear what books, psychology, etc. you’ve read that helped with your transition away from Scientology.

Edit: Whether or not you have time to answer my question, thank you for doing this. It takes balls of steel to throw yourself up against entrenched injustice.

How are you and your colleagues working to change the opioid crisis narrative from a stigmatizing one about people living in significant long term pain to a constructive message that focuses on the lack of care options plaguing most of the country for addiction treatment?

How do you recommend changing the focus to the real cause of the last few years deadly overdoses: illegally manufactured fentanyl from off-shores, counterfeit opioid pills laced with illegal fentanyl, and a lack of affordable access to both physical and mental health care?

How do you/how can we change the script from the same old Nancy Reagan “Your Brain on Drugs” “Just Say No” mentality to one that focuses on helping people rather than shaming them?
