Obviously not this store owner but guessing that ammunition, hunting gear, and other gun accessories have the big mark up. Many people come in to check out guns and walk out with a box of ammo and a range bag or knife.

Yeah, trails are good and they need almost no admin to function. Same with State parks and National Forests. But things like interpretive sites and visitor centers should absolutely be closed. The problem with parks specifically is that unlike regular undeveloped or primitive recreation sites in state and national forest lands they often need more protections.

Honestly if more people thought this way even about a guy with the cardboard sign, the world would be better. While I share your doubts, and have misgivings about the situation in Venezuela generally, you did a good thing.
