Do you support the proliferation of the backyard chicken movement as a means to curb cruelty? Our chickens are very productive for us, however I do my best to keep up a high quality of life for them.

I sincerely agree. I think of our small household flock which has been so very good to us and extremely productive with eggs (and I can call each one by name) and I try to imagine them spending a short, tortured life in a cubic foot cage. Too disgusting to contemplate.

I spent 6 years working in Corrections. It seemed to me that at the heart of every question a person could ask about The System (tm), the answer was exactly the same every time: Public Apathy.

How can this be addressed or remedied? Can we actually make the public CARE about folks in the system?
