Okay, hold on a second. I agree that we shouldn't paint all the members of a group with the same brush because of the actions of a minority. On the other hand, the label 'nihilistic' is getting thrown around a lot and it is, frankly, completely ridiculous in regard to ISIS - they have a clear goal and clear set of beliefs and values. They believe in it so strongly that they will kill or die for it. That's the polar opposite of nihilism.

And it's ludicrous to suggest that they shouldn't be described as 'Islamic'. Again, no duh, most Muslims don't interpret Islam this way; but ISIS are driven by their version of Islam. You simply can't understand ISIS if you deny this. Are we going to suggest that the Crusades shouldn't be considered an act of radical Christianity, because it is just so far from what we consider to be Christian values? What about the Westboro Baptist Church, or abortion clinic bombers? Clearly the actions of the religious extremists are driven by their underlying religious beliefs; whether or not that reflects the religion at large is another matter.

This is a great quote that I don't think applies here. No one just 'told them' that they were being attacked in Jordan. A terrorist organization burned one of their pilots alive and is now targeting about a dozen more. And if push comes to shove, and ISIS weren't to be contained (which, thankfully, they are), they would sure as shit attack Jordan.
