Why would a man whose shirt says "Genius at Work" spend all of his time watching a children's cartoon show?

I have to say, I was a little bit sad that they revealed the mystery behind the crank. I guess the writers saw it as an early-planted Chekhov's Gun. Except it wasn't particularly important to the plot (many things could have taken its place), and the absurdest mystery of a crank that nobody knows the purpose of was brilliant.

You are fantastic on this show, Ms. Adams. I hope it goes on for many more seasons. Thank you!
