My girlfriend is currently a teacher in Oakland, CA, and has to work about 14 hours a day, 6 days a week (office hours, grading, phone calls to homes) with kids who have severe learning disabilities and emotional problems, with 35 students to a classroom. She has been a teacher for 6 years, and she is so burned out from the insane workload that she is considering quitting. Teacher retention at her school is about 50%, with many teachers being unable to last the entire year and quitting mid-year. What are you specifically doing about teacher retention?
