I would assume that the long days away from family and home put off many women from fully investing the time & money to become a pilot.
Is that any different from being a flight attendant though? They're still on long plane trips for the same amount of time...
Hell, your average white collar office worker is practically away from home for half the year. An 8-5 job with a 1-hour commute each way means you spend roughly 11 hours each day away from your home. Add in ~7 hours for sleep and you've got maybe 6 hours each day with your family if you're lucky.
I get that you mean you're away from your family for days at a time in a row, but plenty of other jobs have that too. I know a lot of nurses who were basically sequestered from their families for a week at a time this past year. And there's something to be said for having a full week of work, and then several days off in a row so you can fully engage with your family rather than only being around them for an hour or two while people make dinner, clean, shower, etc.

Ah, I see you're a fellow person that has constant dream/nightmares too. It's exhausting living for 18 hours and then having to live another 18 hours compressed into 6 hours at night.
I'd like a light-switch that just turns me off at 10 pm and wakes me up at 6, that isn't called alcohol.
