Shit absolutely does happen, but claiming you are about to die from a typically very nonfatal form of cancer does require a bit more proof than an old ER discharge slip. (He's also contradicted himself a few times: he's on Oxy but he's not on any meds, he considers offering a picture of his baldness as "proof" when he hasn't actually had any chemo.)
