How does Germany view German participants (your first partner and your father) in the war, today? Are they swept under the carpet or are they celebrated or somewhere inbetween?

Thanks! Bless you!

Taking a cheap shot at a servicemen because you disagree with a country's foreign policy is a position that cannot be defended.

You can go a lot lower than that. Especially if you are in 'training'. When I was 18, about 5 years ago I worked at a chain bread store cashier and was paid just over $10 an hour. It was only because I was excited about getting free bread and other sweet products that I stayed a few months. Oh, and it also depends on a the industry obviously.

There is no conscription. That much is true. But if you had any self-respect and didn't want to look like a fool when you offered your opinions, you would put some thought into them before you announced them.

Soldiers can join the army for a variety of reasons - monetary, career, to serve, patriotism etc...So I think your claim that every soldier that volunteered did so because they unanimously understood and followed the finer details of the US's foreign policy and especially it's strategic position in international politics.
