This would depend entirely on your current starting position. Age, educations, skills, debts etc.
And what do you count as a lot of money? Some jobs have high median but low variance (doctors), others have much higher variance with lower medians (tech startup, lawyers). If you're 30, no college education, no skills, lots of debt, a lot of options are closed to you.
If you're 18, just got into Harvard, strong family support and a super sharp mind, the world is your oyster and you can pick your path and risk.
But for near guaranteed money in retirement, David Weild is correct, historically the market trend will almost beat trying to outsmart the market

Are you suggesting the world revert to sail power for our ocean faring vessels? Or have you come up an alternative, clean, energy source to power boats that can match the speed and safety of our current technology?
Otherwise this seems like a huge vanity project to get people to fund a trip around the world because you enjoy sailing and kind of care about the environment
What would be the long term impact of 2 people sailing around the world. People have sailed around the world without motors. That's done and proven. What else are you bringing to the table.

Have you considered becoming a nurse. If your finances allow it, can start as a CNA, then LPN, then RN, then CRNA or NP. It’s a 10+ year plan but it’s doable .
