The first time I heard of throat-singing was on Discovery's Lonely Planet with Ian Wright. The performers in that episode had different singing styles(?) that represented the varied landscape of Central Asia, e.g. rivers, mountains, steppes, deserts etc. How did throat-singing start, btw? I assume it was by yak-herders?

Speaking of users, how does a startup solve the chicken-and-egg problem of getting enough people interested in the product to understand what they expect from it, all the while improving it to gain traction? Advertising, live demos, etc. work well, but in a world where everyone is trying to outdo their competitors, and where a potential user is flooded with new ideas and designs popping up left and right, are these traditional methods enough to get people interested?
