You could actually make it into a storyline of sorts, where the clown is actually an old man who survived Dachau, but lost his entire family there. His parents, brothers, sisters, uncles and even his oma which he loved so dearly. Years later, as an old man, physically and mentally weakened by the ailments that came with his age, he gets the chance to avenge his family by killing the sadistic megalomaniac who put the wheels of death in motion. He'd be locked into a room with Hitler, who would in some way be prevented from escaping or struggling in any way, and a bullet to end his misery. The downside? Being locked in that said room until either Hitler or the old man himself kicks the bucket.
He'd hear the door close, the lock fall into place, and eventually see the lights turn on. However, there is no gun. He's now doomed to sit in a room with the man responsible for the deaths of many, unable to end either persons' lives.
Don't think such a situation would do wonders for your mental fortitude.

Would have to disagree on the complaining part.
