My late grandfather served in the Pacific at the time -- he actually had a picture of one of his fellow soldiers holding the severed head of a "Jap". It was crazy seeing that when I was 13, although it now pales in comparison to what r/wtf and r/morbidreality have shown me.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, I just find it pretty amazing that all 4 of you were able to maintain your hold on the light post with a 33 foot high wall of water smacking you.
