It's a Twilight Zone episode reference.

Ha, totally. I am an F cup at 5'4" with a short waist. I tend to say I was born without a torso.

Wow. Your explanation has made me rethink my ear issues. I had chronic infections in both ears as a kid, with the left one remaining problematic—the eustacian tube doesn't function normally, so I had constant drainage and pressure issues.

When I was around eight or ten I was also found to have moderate hearing loss. Tried a tube at 12 (it didn't help anything), then three reconstructive surgeries as a teenager (canal wall down mastoidectomy), replacing my ear drum, enlarging the ear canal, grinding away infected portions of my skull, etc.

What I hadn't put together before was a possible relation to my jaw problems. It deviated to the side, and in my twenties I had a splint and other therapies to better center it and correct the muscle imbalance prior to getting braces.

Even if it's not the case for me, I never before thought about the effects of those joints on hearing. This was a very interesting read. Thank you.
