How do you screen couchsurfing hosts as safe or not? I had a bad experience with a cs guest once and don't want to repeat that.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'm planning another trip soon, and was hoping to try cs again.

The guy I surfed with that was a bad experience had 100+ positive reviews, including some from women. That's why I'm so badly spooked about the whole thing. I think it was just bad luck, honestly.

How many guys did you stay with, and how many girls, just curious?

Well, I've travelled around Mexico alone without weapons, so it's okay. Girls travelling alone isn't that bad...though couchsurfing certainly was dodgy for me at one point.
