Thank you for your answer. There's a lot to think about there. An old programmer I know had the goal of making every function he created into an addition to the programming language, in effect, so that he never had to re-code. It meant a lot of granular functions in libraries but he could write his apps in what looked like pseudo-code but was actually giant strings of these functions. Neat stuff when it worked.

Belgians, and more generally today's First World populations, basically need no government at all -- and our governments have lived down to this challenge.

Government may be obsolete in the first world, but do they need leadership? After all, they elected these incompetent governments.
