Former NC native here (Charlotte) now in California. For the longest time North Carolina was sort of the beacon of progress in the South. We were leading in business, finances, medical research, and all this other stuff that made me pretty proud to be a Carolinian. However, after the Republican takeover in the later 2000's, it really felt that North Carolina's image and reputation went downhill very quickly due to the sweeping laws and changes that were made to seemingly eradicate any trace of the Democrats' time in the state. More often than not, whenever I see NC trending in the news, it's normally for something bad. It feels like the image of progress has been tarnished and we're just another Southern State. I also feel religious extremism has grown in the state a little more as well.

My questions to you are: what are your plans to try and improve the reputation and image of North Carolina? How will you navigate through a hardline Republican party and a now louder Republican voter base? How can you help show the rest of the US that we're re-emerging back as the leading Southern State of progress, both in business and in image?

Also, a personal request: If you win, please bring back film tax incentives. I want to make a show in NC and I would love to film in Charlotte.
