I’m not religious and would never go back but I deeply respect anyone who truly lives the life without faking it; the Mr. Rogers types lol. You nailed this. On that note look at all the for profit church’s scamming people out of $ & our tax dollars. In my career I worked with a lot of so called pastors & churches who’d roll up in a new Benz & their staff in new Escalades begging for free property & tax $. I don’t blame the real ones for what these fakers do BUT there is nowhere near a sufficiently loud enough voice against this. These same “good” churches/communities have no problem telling people they’re going to “hell” for who they love or how they live but they won’t even publicly admonish these mega churches, let alone tell them they are going to hell, straight up. Again, not religious but it’s not that complicated. The supposed message of Jesus is give away your wealth & love your neighbor AND enemies no matter what. Full stop. The world is now full of little missionary monsters thinking they are “god’s” enforcers. Where’s the backlash on the bad ones ruining it for the good ones? In my eyes this makes them all complicit unfortunately. And it’s only becoming the norm.
