I am not downplaying the atrocities of residential schools, but I had to check the claims. The 30% seemed to be a cherry-picking of stats.

In total, about 150,000 First Nations children passed through the residential school system,[6] and at least 4,000 of them died while attending the schools

That is 2.7%, not 30% when we look at average mortality rate.

Again, what happened was absolutely gut-wrenching and the students were in deplorable conditions. But 1 out of every 3 children did not die in residential schools.
