If you plan on selling hardware units, there is going to be a lot of R&D and massive amounts of bug testing. Will this slow down updates to phones when Google releases a new version of Android? I know when a new version is released, a nightly is usually found for most phones within a few days' time, but for a piece of hardware shipped to thousands of users there must be a lot more put into it.

Most OEMs (Sony, Samsung, HTC) have allowed users to unlock their bootloaders and root with ease. The major hurdle in the US are carriers locking down their phones. Some users are stuck with Verizon or AT&T and these 2 carriers are notorious for preventing users from configuring their devices and have almost no other choices for phones (mostly VZW). Would you guys be able use DMCA clauses or petition the FCC to allow more freedom with the phones?
