What led you to start this project? What was your inspiration?

I am a special education major and feel that kids being able to have a voice or being able to pursue their passions is so very important. How can people get involved? Do they have to have degrees to help?

My son is in Jr high and doing an independent study project on space exploration and the asteroid belt. Is there anything important that most people don't think about that you think he should research and include in his report?

You know I never thought about it that way. I cannot even imagine how it must feel to be so far away and so absolutely and completely isolated for so long. I wonder if my boy has. I do know that in some of his research he has told me that he is in awe of people who choose to be astronauts but that he doesn't think he could ever do it.

That's why he had picked the topic to begin with. He has said the hardest part so far is finding people to interview. He had thought that would be the easy part since we live so close to KSC, but yet he has had very little like finding sources so far. He is in an accelerated program and it counts for half of his grade this year in all four of his core classes.
