I think you are right on the sensation of water. The dementia patients I cared for before had issues with that. The would settle for a good sponge bath.

Not OP here.....I was always instructed to play along. Answer the questions even if they come up every few minutes and be patient...like answer them as if it were the first time they asked it.

Not OP here, but I would suggest talking to the head nurse or if possible the physician. Maybe the diet can be changed to a more pureed form of food and also the thickness of the liquids could possibly be adjusted.

Do you notice a change in your patients/residents during a full moon? I also worked with dementia patients and it was always different during a full moon.

No OP here, but true Alzheimer's cannot be diagnosed while one is living. Up until then, it is called Dementia of the Alzheimer's Type. Honestly, I'm not sure of what other tests are done while one is living.
